To shed this robe of propriety
To lay bare
This deep sentimentality
This passion
That is buried
Deep inside my soul
Permit me these feelings

Those of desiring
Stirred with passion
To be exposed

See this burning desire
Smoldering deep inside my eyes
Feel the heat of my longing
Smell the fragrance of my love
Taste my sweetness on your lips
Hear my breath whispering in your ear
Take me as I am
Observe the turtle
As he saunters along his way
Slowly he moves
Patient to get to his destination
He stops and starts
When he pauses
He sticks his neck out
Looks around
Then moves once more
When he’s through
He withdraws into his shell
He retreats
Lying still and motionless
Be like the turtle!
Hot summer days
Warm sultry nights
Days that begin with a promise
Then ended with a savory kiss
Excitement greeted each day
Passion filled each night
Inhibitions were shed
We were free to explore
When summer began
Forever was a possibility
Yet much too soon it ended
As well as our summer love
Awaken me from slumber
Erase the sleep from my eyes
May my vision be cleared
So that I can see who I am
From the inside out
May my course be set
Creating from my heart
All that I want to surround me
Peace to fill my days
Love to fill my nights
Laughter to fill my years
Joy to last a lifetime
Give me one tender moment
One time to feel your loving touch
One kiss to set my world on fire
You know it would mean so much

My heart’s aflame with slow desire

Defenses were scattered
Freedom of speech was rendered
My heart was able to speak
No restrictions were in place
I was able to be me for a change
Nothing will ever feel quite as good
You drift in and out as you please
I can do nothing
Except to keep steadfast
Never wavering in sincere effort
To be your friend
Yet I cannot promise
To not wonder or worry
To fear not that one day
You will never return
The fear of another person
Who fades and departs
Remain in my heart
I can promise
That I will be here for you
Whenever the need or desire arises
Uncompromising in my love
That flows like a deep river
As fragrant as a flower in bloom
